THE PRESIDENT'S PERSPECTIVE - Spring 2010
By Mazen Habash President I.A.A.I. - Ontario Chapter

The IAAI-Ontario Chapter would like to wish everybody a safe and enjoyable Spring Season.

As we look forward to the warm weather we want to remind you that your executive has been very busy planning our annual seminar. This year we are moving the seminar west to Hamilton in the brand new McMaster Innovation Park. You will learn valuable tools to assist you in the investigation of fires and arsons. Our seminar will be held on Wednesday, June 2, 2010.

A fire investigator cannot walk into a fire scene and immediately determine the cause of a fire without going through the Systematic Approach. The systematic approach is the scientific method used in physical sciences. As a Fire Investigator you are responsible for ensuring that your methodology is exact and that you can support it in a court of law if you are called upon to do so. Our seminar will assist you in developing your skills as a fire investigator and will also prepare you for presenting your determinations in a court of law.

Along with our lecturers from Ontario we have been able to attract lecturers from the United States who will share their experiences in fire investigation south of the border. The profiles of all of our lecturers are included in this newsletter along with the registration form. We are really looking forward to this educational experience.

I look forward to seeing you in Hamilton. Have a safe and enjoyable summer.

Thank you

Sincerely, Mazen Habash President, Ontario Chapter IAAI
